The name Charlie & the Bhoys was thought up by Billy McNeill whilst placing an ad for his pub. The band never had a name at that time! Another great Caesar moment in history.

STORY - ALBERT KIDD

The date was January 13th 2001 when Charlie & the Bhoys were playing in The Irish Centre, Adelaide, Australia.

On that Saturday, Adelaide was the hottest place on Earth. With the temperature at 123°f, the Bhoys where chilling out at the hotel pool when they were approached by a man.

Excuse me, are you the guys who wrote a song about me he said in a broad Scottish accent, they looked at him, he was not Duncan Ferguson or Donald Findlay or Gazza, it could only be, the one and only, Albert Kidd!

Remember that Day in 1986 when he scored the 2 goals for Dundee to give Celtic the League? He was to be their guest of honour that night, and dropped by to make arrangements with them, and what a night it was! Along with 300 Celtic exiles the Bhoys had a few afternoon drinks with him and got chatting. He told them of how after the game he was in the dressing room and Archie Knox, then the manager of Dundee, would not speak to him, even although he had just given his team a 2-0 victory over title chasing Hearts. Half the dressing room loved me, and half hated me, he said. He also told them of the hate mail he received from Hearts fans.

I got this letter one morning not long after the game with an Edinburgh postmark on it. I opened it carefully and inside was a piece of shit, nothing else.

The Bhoys told him, that he will always be a hero in the eyes of every Celtic fan.
He now runs his own cleaning business and is doing very nicely.
